This was a 'growth hacker' all rounder role. I was responsible for all marketing and sales at this small startup that provided training and recruitment to mining companies and government agencies. It was a lot of fun and an opportunity to apply my existing digital skills while learning anything else I needed as we went along. I built three websites for the business, created brand and product messaging, created landing pages and collateral, ran the SEO and SEM, did outbound lead gen, email campaigns, made coffee and proofread training materials.

While studying marketing at uni, I discovered the world of digital marketing. I got sucked right into SEO and affiliate sites, teaching myself everything and learning nonstop.These were the (fairly) early days where content quality was low and links were spammy. I built and ran a network of content sites, monetised with display ads and affiliate links.Later I built a private blog network and sold link building services to other SEOs and small agencies. It was the wild west of PBNs and homepage links, which was fun while it lasted.I also got into Facebook ads and Google Ads, offering local SEO and lead gen services to small local businesses.I continued with this after I graduated, working on the business part time while working full time.
