I have 20 years experience working within Child Safeguarding supporting the development of safeguarding practice through training, learning and development and procedures to ensure staff confidence and competency in their roles. I have an in depth knowledge of how safeguarding functions. I currently work across the UK with Local Authorities, Independent Providers and Safeguarding Children Partnerships and have a good overview of the current and future challenges. My role means constantly updating my knowledge on safeguarding through the contacts I work with, by monitoring national developments and keeping up with the research relating to safeguarding practice. Previously I have worked in the voluntary sector and am a qualified teacher so have a good understanding of multi-agency practice. I am a natural communicator and am quick to build positive relationships in teams and with colleagues. It matters to me that the work I do means that children in need of help are identified and supported by staff who themselves are supported in their work.
