I was seconded to the role of driver compliance manager which has historically been a supervisors role. The role involves reviewing any incidents or complaints involving police vehicles and assessing whether there has been any breach of law, or policy and whether any sanctions or actions should be taken against the police driver.It is a role I enjoyed, despite it being unpopular with other members of staff. The decisions I would make would involve a report being written with my justification which would be seen by the staff member and several high ranking members of staff.I liaised with high ranking officers and found myself making decisions against higher ranked officers, as well as numerous other members of staff.The role involved reducing risk for the organisation with regards to collision reduction.
