Rolls-Royce Clarke Chapman MarineResponsible for the analysis of various marine components using ANSYS. Work included both Naval and commercial contracts. Components analysed included pedestals, machinery bases, masts and jibs for marine cranes, ship to ship replenishment at sea system (RAS system) and hose reels for FPSO vessels.

NEI Nuclear Systems/NEI Power ProjectsPerformed detailed analysis on the Sizewell ‘B’ PWR Pressuriser vessel. Assessment of vessel to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code using ANSYS. Work included jet impingement loading on spherical head, transient analysis of surge nozzle and fatigue analysis.Sizewell ‘B’ “Cookbook” – Seismic analysis of pipework to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III Sub-section NC and ANSI B31.1 Power Piping Code. Involved analysis of instrumentation pipework modules using PSA5, the purpose of which was to standardise pipework runs for site installation.Oldbury Power Station LP Feed Trip Valve Bypass – dynamic analysis (time history) of pipework to BS806 using both ANSYS and PSA5.Analysis of the Steam Generation Unit (SGU) of the European Fast Reactor, including structural assessment comparisons on the SGU shell, post weld heat treatment and fracture mechanics of the final head closing weld (R6 code), fatigue and creep assessment of the tube/tube plate weld. Extensive use of ANSYS finite element program. Analysis performed to French code RCC-MR Rules for the Construction of Nuclear Islands.Faslane Shiplift Platform – Dynamic analysis of the effect of one beam failure on the safety ropes using ANSYS.
