I led a professional team of technical engineers and support staff to deliver programs of work in remote Australian communities and in the South West Pacific.

As an infrastructure project director working in the land capability portfolio, I was responsible for over $1 billion in capital facilities and infrastructure requirements on the National Defence Estate in support of the introduction into service of new land capability materiel acquisitions. This role required me to lead diverse and partnered teams that integrate the facilities and training areas component of each capability system.

2017 was a year of professional development at the Australian Command and Staff College, Canberra. During this year of full-time study I undertook a Master's degree in Military and Defence Studies through the Australian National University. I also had the opportunity to build new Defence networks, both domestic and international, to assist with my future roles in capability development, facilities-related policy development, and project planning and delivery.

Lead of a seven-man project team embedded in a Multi-National, Multi-Agency indigenous capacity building organisation in central Afghanistan. The role of this project team was to deliver capital infrastructure to the local Provincial Government in support of the development and governance functions, to manage the application of Commonwealth funds through overseas contractors, to oversee the delivery of basic trade training to the indigenous population, and to advise other branches of the… Show more Lead of a seven-man project team embedded in a Multi-National, Multi-Agency indigenous capacity building organisation in central Afghanistan. This period has been spent undertaking roles as both a Project Engineer and Operations Officer. Work has included involvement in AACAP projects in Fitzroy Crossing, delivering infrastructure projects in PNG and developing unit resource budgets and forecasts as well as planning and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the organisation.

Project management master's with focus on system dynamics and complex system modelling.

This role was largely administrative and gave insight into the management of an organisation of up to 200 people. Tasks included managing personnel and equipment capability both in barracks and deployed.

Work during this period included development of personnel rescue and soils publications. This job was undertaken remotely during a period of overseas residence.

This three-year period saw two separate commands of 30 people; the first was in Field Engineering and included a deployment to East Timor in 2002, the second was with an Emergency Response organisation in support of a large army formation.
