COMPUTING ENGINEERING MANAGERI have 30 years experience of software design. I'm responsible for the team that designed and created real-time computer systems for recording geophysical data in challenging remote locations around the world. I oversee two international portals for geomagnetic data. In response to industry need for higher data availability, I designed and implemented cheap, robust and resilient data delivery systems. I have managed the implementation a high availability infrastructure to receive and deliver data via web applications. Currently working on a major software migration project. I was responsible for overseeing career development and play a major part in appraisal, meeting and reporting on all 80 staff in my area. I have been involved in the design of appraisal systems. I have good experience of managing performance and dealing with capability processes. I continue to sit on the promotion panel for my parent body, overseeing promotion of IT staff across and organisation of 2,500 people.
