I was a Trainer, Leader, Coach within our optical lab department. I lead a team of 12 assembly technicians. I was tasked with training new hires and coaching our team to continuously and inclemently improve quality, productivity, and overall performance. I was also an acting supervisor throughout the year. One of my highlights of this role was being selected to be part of a team that set up a new distribution center south of the Canadian border in Blaine, Washington. My role was to effectively train the new staff to the same standards to that of our Vancouver team. We achieved this quite rapidly after it's inception. We had a great team there and I had the pleasure of making many monthly, if not weekly trips follow up trips to provide extra training, coaching, and guidance.

As an assembly technician, I was well trained in almost all areas of production. Assembly, QA, Blocking, PA. Relatively early on, I was moved to an area called Innovations. Within this departmental microcosm, I worked on creating and troubleshooting frame patterns as well as many other misc tasks. We often said everything would go through innovations, whether it was product implementation or system integrations. Considering we were going through a period of significant change back then, we worked closely with many departments including; Technical production when creating a surfacing lab. I was not only trained in the operation of the machines but the mechanical maintenance also. Through better PMP I and my team were able to improve quality and improve efficiency and utilization in our department which allowed us to take on larger volumes of orders.As the company grew I was tasked with training new hires in the processes and procedures.

In this medical clean room environment, we produced high volumes of USFDA, CE, and DCGI-regulated drug-coated heart stints for global distribution.

An engineering company, my Father, started in our garage. I was the first employee. We grew the business to a point where we employed 15 employees and had two factories. We engineered metal and copper products for an international market. Our client base included Thermo King, American Power Conversion (APC), and Mchale Engineering. Even though I was young, I gained valuable experience in starting a business, management, cost, engineering, production, leadership, inventory control, and logistics. It is where I really began to understand the importance of quality, deadlines, and customer service. I also developing technical skills in welding, CNC machining, and fabrication. After two years, my primary duties within a fantastic team were to run a specific product line, oversee the day-to-day flow of products on the floor, and handle the logistics of products to customers.
