Simon Fraser is the founder of the Ptarmigan group of companies, specialising in the design and implementation of complex lighting and video systems for themed entertainment projects.He trained in theatre electrics in London before working in the West End and on pre West End tours around the UK. In 1987 he moved to Hong Kong and was a founding partner in a lighting rental and production company. Over a six year period he was involved in delivering a wide spectrum of shows that included concerts for artists that ranged from Pavarotti to Kylie Minogue, fashion shows for companies such as Burberry and Chanel, productions for the Bolshoi and Royal Ballets, tours for the Moscow State Circus and Sesame Street. Following a short period back in the West End, Simon moved to the corporate world working on a diverse range of events for many FTSE 100 companies, during this time he was presented with the opportunity to create Visitor Centres for British Airways, NCR and Amway. Enjoying the challenge that permanent projects brought, Simon joined the UK’s leading Museum and Visitor Centre project and construction management company. Over a four year period he worked on a diverse range of projects including Play Zone at the Millennium Dome, Thinktank in Birmingham, the National Football Museum in Preston, the Famous Grouse Experience in Crieff and an Islamic Arts Exhibition in Doha.In 2003 Simon was invited to return to Hong Kong to work on Phase 1 of A Symphony of Lights, responsible for the implementation of the Government Buildings partaking in the original phase of the show. Enjoying being back in Hong Kong and seeing the opportunities for a systems integration company in Asia, Simon founded Ptarmigan in 2004.Since its creation Simon has overseen Ptarmigan’s delivery of projects across Asia.Simon is an external advisor at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
