Working in the Simone Mattei Team at the Imaging Centre at EMBL Heidelberg as a Cryo-EM Specialist providing cutting-edge electron microscopy service to users.Previously, I've worked in the Lab of James Hurley at UC Berkeley, USA, as an EMBO Postdoctoral Fellow using electron microscopy to get a structural and mechanistic understanding of how cells signal nutrient availability. I also implemented new hardware and software solutions that all users in the lab can make the most out of their data.During my scientific education, I've learned electron microscopy in the Lab of Carsten Sachse at EMBL Heidelberg, Germany, during my PhD thesis and applied it to understand fundamentals of autophagy and to develop new data processing strategies. During my undergraduate studies which involved an 8 month master thesis, I employed NMR spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry and in vitro assays to study aspects of mRNA degradation in the Lab of Remco Sprangers at the Max Planck Institute in Tübingen, Germany.
