Key Responsibilities:• Provide high level, expert and authoritative advice to the Minister, Director-General and senior officials on key recommendations relating to pricing regulation, energy policy, complex commercial, legislative and technical issues and their implication on Queensland;• Undertake financial and economic modelling on electricity pricing and tariff reform proposals;• Prepare and deliver complex reports, submissions, briefing notes and other regulatory instruments, presentations, speeches, publications and correspondence that relate to energy pricing matters.• Manage a team to develop policy positions to reduce electricity costs, and regulations for regional Queensland customers and lower operating costs for Government Owned Corporations

Used to feed into comprehensive policy documents. • Lead the department in creating a data and analytics culture, including building databases for teams to use• Developed an Open Data strategy for the department

Key Responsibilities included• Provided detailed market analysis and create policies to ensure the wholesale electricity and gas markets are economically viable;• Contributed to policy development at a national level to ensure markets operate efficiency and effectively. This includes analysing policy options and creating briefs on recommendations; • Monitored Government Owned Corporations (GOC’s) in electricity generation sector on behalf of the Shareholding Minister. This included assessing financial statements and creating briefs to the Minister on issues impacting the GOC’s;• Liaised with GOC’s to maintain a strong working relationship with the government and advise Minister of ongoing issues of concerns of policies that impact GOC performance in the wholesale electricity market;• Wrote briefings and speeches for the Minister

Key Responsibilities• Provide detailed economic analysis on the Queensland economy;• Quality check internal and external reports by conducting economic analysis and editing of documents;• Assess labour market issues impacting the Queensland economy;• Provide economic analysis on proposed projects within the Queensland economy;• Employing a variety of economic and financial modelling techniques.
