I currently analyse the profitability of all our managed services contracts to ensure accurate customer billing but also to analyse where purchasing improvements may be made. We have focused initially on reviewing all our current contracts and all the constituent parts which allow us to deliver a first-class service to our customers. I lead two other major research activities: • Reviewing the licensing of the managed services platforms which support our customer services through auditing and change management. This has initially focused on the licensing of Microsoft SPLA and Azure services. • Reviewing all communications services purchased through our partner relationships. Creating management processes to support service cessations and initiation. My role requires me to engage with all levels and departments within the business including pre-sales, project management, delivery and support. I also engage extensively with our partner service providers. My technical background has allowed for an improved insight into how we deliver our services and what improvements can be made during the pre-sales phase of the opportunity to ensure financial accuracy for the proposal but also the billing methodologies once the service has been initiated.

As a senior member of the Project Management Office (PMO) I had the responsibility of delivering multi-national, long term projects to the most demanding customers using Prince 2 project management methodologies. Through workshops with the customers in conjunction with internal technical resources and engaged third parties, full project definitions are created and agreed to provide protection for the customer and CSI equally. The mitigation of project creep is one key priority, the other being financial efficacy for the business. I leveraged the power of Microsoft tools to not only support my own projects but provide tools to the other members of the PMO and the senior management team (SMT) to provide project delivery consistency and metrics to the SMT in the form of a weekly infographic. Team performance data, progress reports and management reports are produced at the click of a button, thus saving significant administration time for all members of the PMO. As with all PMOs, one of the key pain points is the hand-off to the business as usual (BAU) teams to feed, water and maintain the platform post-delivery. Having been in their situation, I appreciated the importance of this hand-off and pride myself in ensuring no project arrives unannounced or to an unprepared team.

I ensured that Dell, HP, IBM, Sony, Acer, Toshiba, Packard Bell, Lenovo and smaller OEMs in Europe were technically ready to adopt the next version of Microsoft’s client and server operating systems and applications. This involved evangelising and demonstrating the products currently in development, working with the Microsoft US HQ in removing or resolving technical issues with the code which would affect the ability of Microsoft’s business partners to take the products to market. Engagement with the senior management of the Microsoft business partners was also required to ensure adoption at the highest level, this included installing and configuring pilot or proof of concept environments. Microsoft is a global organisation which required being involved in conference calls and live meetings out of business hours.

SMS deployment and Citrix product evaluation and testing were a key part of the success of this enterprise deployment.
