I had overall responsibility for the University’s research portfolio spanning medical and life sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities, as well as for the Graduate School, Research Integrity and Knowledge Exchange. I co-led a team of 70 Professional Services (PS) staff and 2 academic Associate PVCs with an operating budget of £6m, generating £20m research income annually. Through building a high-performing team and through close collaboration with other Executive colleagues, I transformed the University's research environment and performance, including building and leading a successful submission to REF 2021. I represented the University on regional and national sector bodies
