    Bristol, United Kingdom
Supported the implementation of a change programme which was put into place to improve processes for effective control, monitoring, reporting across the Artillery Systems team on behalf of the Combat Track Group (CTG). Responsible for ensuring that all projects within the team had a schedule (in MS Project) and that their risks were recorded and as a result of working with Project Managers 100% of Projects within the team had an up-to-date project plans, an increase of 50% and 82% had risks recorded, an increase of 70%. Set up a process for reviewing all project schedules and risks on a three month rolling schedule. This resulted in the project data within the team being more up to date and with a higher level of maturity. Seconded to a Project within the team, so that I could transfer my skills and ensure that their data was of the highest quality and I was exposed to other pieces of work, within the project domain e.g. business cases for project requirements, being part of range trials and reviewing project requirements.
  • Uk Ministry Of Defence
    Project Manager
Uk Ministry Of Defence Jul 2005 - Jul 2008
    Bristol, United Kingdom
Managed the in-service use of the Requirements Management (DOORS), Tender Management (Award) and the Risk Management toolsets (Active Risk Manager and Predict Risk Controller / Analyser). As Project Manager for the tools plans were created in order to monitor and control the support of the tools (including identifying risks). This included deciding when to install patches and upgrade to newer versions, of the software. I also identified that DOORS had been used in the MoD (primarily DE&S) for a number of years and that no review had been done previously to see whether it was the best tool on the market and best value for money. I ran a study to identify whether the tool that was being used across the department was the best option available for MoD/DE&S, by reviewing the functionality of all of the available requirements toolsets and the cost to the department - it was concluded that the existing tool was the most viable option and areas of possible improvements (found from the other tools) were highlighted and submitted to the software vendor, for further improvements to be made to the functionality. Investigated whether a particular add-on to the Requirements toolset provided existing/new users with increased functionality and ease the use of the tool. This was done by holding a pilot of the additional functionality, within PT’s at Abbey Wood, and producing a report recommending the way forward. As a result of this work the add-on has been introduced into DE&S and a saving was made by negotiating an IPR buy-out which gave a significant discount on the initial batch of licenses that were procured.

Designed and published a web-site that was accessible to all team members. It held important team and project information that users were able to access easily and ensure that key project documentation was readily available for users to view.Produced an electronic filing system (on the teams allocated server), so that project and team information could be stored and documents and e-mails could easily be tracked and re-visited. I set up a structure that consisted of a drafting and a filing area, so team members could work on documents in draft and then place in the filing area, when completed or approved. As well as giving the opportunity for all of the projects key documentation to be stored more efficiently, it also gave an opportunity for obsolete data to be archived, or deleted, as necessary.
