People often make assumptions based on preconceived ideas, without delving deeper. For instance, if I was to say I have Asperger’s Syndrome, you may think I am inadaptable to change or my communication skills are lacking. But what if I was to tell you that Asperger’s has taught me to think out of the box, to look beyond the surface to discover new ways of communicating effectively, to actively listen to the people around me and to do all of this with Compassionate Empathy? That is what I do as a Scrum Master, in order to be accountable for the effectiveness of my Scrum Teams.I coach teams to deliver their Sprint Goals through robust Product Backlog Refinement, breaking the work down into Sprint-size deliverables. By focusing on progress towards the Sprint Goal in every Daily Scrum, I find that teams are more likely to be successful in achieving their desired outcomes.My experience of working in a variety of business areas has enabled me to collaborate with people at all levels and provided numerous opportunities for me to apply Lean Agile principles in the workplace. Using empiricism to inspect my own experiences and those of others, I am able to adapt my behaviours to better-respond to an ever-changing world and hone my skills further. I enjoy running Agile training workshops as this is a great way to engage with people, whilst improving my own skills. I have facilitated training workshops on Lean Thinking and Scrum, highlighting some of the pitfalls that impact many Scrum Teams. In essence, I am an individual who is ready to work with teams, to help organizations to eliminate waste and deliver value to their customers sooner, in a sustainable manner. My people-first approach enables me to quickly gain the trust of stakeholders, leadership and teams.
