Senior Fibre Engineer (Outside Plant)
CurrentAs an OSP Senior field technician I'm part of a small but high motivated team that cover the Level 3 UK fibre optic network from Cornwall to Scotland.I'm responsible for over seeing the installation of UK BUA revenue generating and internal enhancement fibre projects on both the road and rail networks. This includes competitive costing of vendors and contractors & allocating manpower resource to ensure that projects are delivered within set time frames.I liaise with project managers & Customers & attend both contractor reveiw & Council, CoL & TFL meetings to ensure the smooth running of these works. I also up-date Level 3 senior management on a weekly project review call & highlight any issues & provide solutions & responses.As well as revenue projects I also manage the spend & costs for contractors & venders on maintenance works to ensure that the network can run without issue but at as great a reduced cost to business as possible. I carry out the management & ehancement on Level 3 fibre optic road network, to include fault management & prevention of faults through network hardening as well as assisting in all Lift & shift works to protect the network where new development works require the network to be moved.I support the OSP road call out rota to provide tech support for Customer faults & liaise with Contractors to carry out any repairs that can't be met in house. This is currently on a 1 week on 2 week rota.Monitoring of engineer over time & leave & general team administration also one of my tasks.
