In Jan 2003 I was selected from a large pool of candidates to become the the bars manager at Butlins Minehead.The resort was suffering from huge stock losses ,poor spend per head,and high team turnover.My main focus was to improve the culture of the team recruitment as well as motivating the team to see Butlins as a career option thus delivering excellence for the guests on holiday,During my two years ,the department went from being the worst,to the most successful of the three Butlins sites,resulting in my promotion to F&B manager.In my new role I had responsibility for a team in excess of 200,including 12 venue managers,assistants,with a budgeted turnover of £15m across 14 venues.The role helped me learn about the about the disciplines of running branded restaurants including Burger King,Soho Coffee,Papa Johns and Harry Ramsdens plus Butlins catering venues.At the annual conference at Las Vegas in 2007 I was invited to present my ideas for success,and was rewarded with the accolade of "Retail Manager" of the year.After four successful years at Minehaed I was transferred to head up F&B and the arcade division at Butlins,Bognor Regis which was under-performing.My "Blue Print" for success has always been to recruit a good team around me and this was critical in the turn-around in fortunes for Bognor Regis.The passion for team development was recognised By Bourne and I was part of the group that designed "Butlins Road Map" programme ,which is a hybrid culture of training on Wilson leaning used by Disney for all its team.The company also sponsored me to complete my Level five ILM programme which I really enjoyed and helped me become an even more dynamic leader .

I was directly responsible for all aspects of running a team in excess of 120 people,including recruitment,performance monitoring ,coaching and motivation. The position involved the day to day running of the club including two golf courses,bar,restaurant,crèche,shop,health club and beauty salon.This wider scope from running bars/pubs was one of the reasons I applied for the post and it certainly provided a wider range of experience.I was particularly proud that the club won a prestigious "Flame Award" in 2002 for an independently run leisure club.

On my return to Bass Leisure Retail,I was made responsible for running city centre lifestyle bars (Edwards) with food and drink offering and night-time DJ entertainment.Initially based in Burton-Upon-Trent ,I led a a team of up to 30 team members including FOH,BOH and Security. I planned and executed various sales and marketing initiatives to deliver an annual turnover of £1.6M with a contribution of £300K resulting in me being awarded "Edwards Manger of the year" . This achievement led me to be promoted to a larger role in the Bristol area where I ran the largest taking Edwards in the brand, with average weekly takings of £25K

I co-owned the Coach House public house with my parents which consisted of two bars,restaurant and function suite for 250 people.During our time in the Coach House we increased turnover from weekly sales of £1k to £5k and dramatically improved the overall profitability of the business.

I joined Mitchells&Butlers after university ,as part of their graduate recruitment programme.I received an excellent grounding in all aspects of managing public houses,being responsible for the installation of EPOS systems across 60 managed houses in a 12 month roll-out,as well as the ongoing stock control of 30 managed houses.During this time I obtained a postgraduate diploma from the University of Central England,
