Since Dec 2019 I have been responsible for Compliance Oversight at GBIM Limited having previously spending a number of years supporting the previous role holder. The investment industry has seen lots of regulatory changes including the Mifid i and II,RDR, SM&CR and the Consumer Duty is on the horizon.Working for a smaller organisation I have been hands on involved with the above projects as well as maintaining Business as usual including carrying out internal monitoring and other day to day compliance responsibilities. Proportionate and pragmatic often gets lost in the Compliance Sector but they form part of my approach.As a qualified investment manager (who has also run money and clients) I am aware of the challenges facing the front office. I was selected by Citywire in 2011 as one of the top 30 younger Investment Managers in the UK having started in 2010 with Gore Browne Investment Management (GBIM).I entered the financial services industry joining Standard Life Assurance Company as a trainee after leaving university in 2000 and eventually becoming a Independent Financial Advisor specialising in giving tax and investment advice to companies and high net worth individuals. 2005 I joined the discretionary management team in the Leeds office of Rensburg Sheppards Investment Management where I was responsible for the active management of investment portfolios for a range of clients including charities, pension funds, trusts and individuals.
