Customs Manager
Current• Two key job appointments held within Corporate & Legal Affairs department.• Liaison Officer (Relationship Manager) focused on providing critical liaison with all business departments and senior military and Afghan officials to investigate, resolve and report on key issues affecting the business.• Later, appointed to the mission critical role as Customs Manager due to the high profile nature of cargo movement. Responsible for managing import of food and fuel through Central Asian countries and Pakistan into Afghanistan in line with SLAs. • Built and maintained excellent relationships with senior military authorities, Embassy officials and Afghan ministries including Customs & Revenue Dept. and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. • Negotiate import duty exemptions for commodities and ensure timely and accurate submission of documentation including diplomatic notes, import and export approvals. • Set and monitor KPIs for Customs Team.• Negotiate release of containers and trailers at border crossing points during times of crisis and border stoppages. Monitor and report on customs activity at border crossing points across Afghanistan including movement of containers and trucks. • Providing guidance and support to supply chain and transport departments. • Lead, manage and motivate customs team. • Liaise and work closely with internal and external stakeholders including Supreme management team, landowners, non-governmental agencies, sub-contractors, private companies and donor-aid organizations.
