Simon is a registered Counsellor and has a Master of Counselling and a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of New England. He is a full member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and is currently working as an AOD Counsellor at SDECC. Simon has trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and the Berry Street Education Model (Trauma). He has completed two levels of Gottman Therapy training (Relationships and Marriage) and is pursuing his certification to become a Gottman Therapist.Simon has extensive experience and training working with ages (specialising in working with couples and young people) who are experiencing mental health difficulties, life struggles, times of change and social and emotional difficulties. He has a particular interest in working with young people in supporting them to identify maladaptive thought patterns, finding new and helpful ways of dealing with life’s stressors and identifying their individual strengths and values.Simon has also worked in an executive organisational role as part of the executive leadership team, senior management team, the wellbeing team and program facilitation team at Stewart House. Simon currently works online with young couples who are experiencing issues in their relationships or marriage. He is also a Symbis assessment pre marriage facilitator, helping couples navigate important conversations before they get married.
