Reporting to the CIO, I was responsible for the implementation and execution of a clearly defined Network design and implementation strategy that supported consistent network performance and enhanced overall network quality and customer experience as per Orange Uganda’s business objectives.Responsibilities included;- Establishing and managing both capex and opex budgets for IP Networks department- Establishing appropriate staff structure and staffing plans and participating in the staffing process for the department. - Providing technical leadership to team members and actively participating in network design, maintenance and administration.- Setting goals, objectives and priorities within the department; assigning and reviewing work and staff performance as per company goals, resolving any issues arising.- Managing technical operations between Orange Uganda and it's upstream Service Providers and local Internet partners. - Participating in Product and Solution development from conception to commissioning with Marketing, Sales and Technical departments. - Managing all engagements with equipment and services suppliers.- Ensuring network uptime within required SLA levels. - In charge of IP planning and managing IPv4 and IPv6 address allocations for all parts of the Orange Uganda Network.

Senior Network Engineer in a busy 24X7 Telecommunications company supporting the Internet Backbone Network, Corporate LAN/WAN, as well as MTN Uganda’s Voice Networks.Responsibilities included;- Configuration, deployment, monitoring and management of all Data Networks infrastructure.- Planning and managing network design and growth. In charge of public IP address sourcing and allocation, IP subnet planning, Cat5/6 cabling and all routing and switching considerations.- IT department point-of-contact and Project IP resource on all corporate projects such as regional corporate office network rollouts - In charge of Corporate LAN/WAN security. In charge of managing VPN connections to MTN networks through corporate firewalls. Implementing and monitoring security on all MTN Corporate LAN/WAN routers and switches. - Planning, implementing and documenting Disaster Recovery procedures for network devices. Automating weekly backups of configuration files for all network devices.- Maintaining up-to-date topology diagrams of the entire network as well as an inventory of all network devices in use and in stock.- Management of Internet Services backbone network - Ensure seamless running of IP protocols in a multi-vendor network environment.- Network performance management and reporting, and in-charge of network capacity planning.- Software upgrades on all network devices as required? - Allocation and management of Bandwidth to Internet Clients.- Configuration of CPE routers for MTN Internet Bandwidth Customers at remote sites.- General Internet clients and Corporate LAN users support.
