Speaking engagements for Second World War topics, including: "Spitfire: Why it was a pain and why it was worth it", "The Battle of Britain", "RAF: Dowding vs Bader vs the Luftwaffe" all delivered in the 2nd half of 2023. Coming in 2024 will be "Coastal Command and the Battle of the Atlantic" and "Bletchley Park, code-breaking and the birth of computing". As an enthusiastic member of the Metheringham Aviation Visitor Centre and volunteer guide at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, I'm given lots of opportunities to improve my knowledge of wartime topics, particularly aviation ones!.

Design and build of web based table booking and membership application. Supporting client's applications - local and web based. App is designed to operate on client pc and via browser. The browser app handles the membership maintenance and extracts for analysis and member contacts. The local app handles the swipe recording (via QR code that's scanned from a membership card printed by the app). The API provides various member data and update functions. The system is integrated with a Zebra card printer and bar code scanner. Both apps are C#.net while the web app makes use of ASP and Javascript as well. The backend database is SQL Server.Recent client projects have required proficiency of REACT and Figma in addition to existing C# and SQL skills as I've been tasked with delivery of web/tablet based apps with back end databases and integration into existing systems.

Developing Micro Services as a layer between an Angular web front end and a SQL Server database. Services deployed via DevOps. Building a Work flow tasks engine that is highly configurable as tasks, actions and events are sprinkled throughout the system. Dependency Injection, generics and reflection are used to make the solution as flexible and supportable as possible.

Working on Trading systems using Web services, windows services and local win forms apps. Used VSTS for progress, repository, documentation and to support Agile working practices. Used Oracle db via Toad, creating various stored procs and functions as well as SQL*Plus scripts for installation and Rollbak pre-live implementation requirements run via Powershell.

Software development on address management and Utilities applications. Using C#, ASP, Javascript, SQL Server, NuGet and TFS. Company delivers last mile infrastructure and the systems help to manage the various address and product supply requirements. Wrote interface to Microsoft Dynamics Purchase Ordering module to handle PO Cancellation.

Building a new .Net application and an interface from legacy AS/400 application and database.

Business analysis, technical design, development and implementation of a purchasing application that handles manufacturer and wholesaler purchases with transactions in excess of £2m per month at a company that is continually expanding and commercially successful. System has to cater for complicated discount and rebate calculations with individual products at manufacturers often having their own unique financial calculations and methods. Presented solution to directors and senior managers with favourable response. Evolving the database and application beyond the initial version and including additionaly capability as a result of the changing business needs that come from working for a very successful and expanding client.

System maintenance and development for an enhancement project for an Asset maintenance management application. Heavy use of objects and process control. Used VS2010, VB, WinForms , TFS, SQL Server.

Designed and developed a web based dashboard and data miner application to analyse shrink for a Retail client of RGIS. Used back end SQL Server DB containing some tables with 40M+ rows. The dashboard component allowed for presentation of KPI panels in either traffic light or pie chart format and different combinations of panels being selected for different users. Also developed a licence dll to limit concurrent users according to the fees paid. The client was delighted with both the presentation and function which significantly improved capability over the previous application.

Design and development of a Case Management application for Homeless applications with 100+ local users. Used 80+ forms & SQL Server db(140+ tables). Enhanced many times. I inherited the original database but app was written from scratch. Latest features include Word and Excel file creation, auto emailing and Document storage as well as considerably enhanced note and text handling for timeline views with the delivery of separately threaded Event and Advice forms visible whilst proceeding through a questionnaire so that pertinent events and advice items can be drawn to user attention. Built excellent relationships with user community. Used VS2012, WinForms , TFS, SQL Server , stored procedures, queries and functions and created dll’s. Used ClickOnce deployment after previously developed (and superior) app delivery mechanism was made obsolete by VS2012.

Currently enhancing QBiCS our Business Crime Scheme incident recording application. This consists of an Android tablet or smartphone for data and picture capture at the scene with a back-end web application and database for incident management.Also we are enhancing our Loyalty-Box application for use with Android phones and web server app for client teaser creation.Another existing client project involves VB Script programming for CATIA to handle aircraft wing design modifications.Formed the company in 1987 to market programming utilities. Have a portfolio of products including membership and loyalty offerings, telephone call logging, marketing, web based databases and web applications including questionnaires, exhibition registration and meeting arrangements and can deliver solutions including custom built hardware, magnetic stripe swiping and bar code reading/printing. Attendees particularly liked the mix of presentation style and practical knowledge.Have delivered networking and motivational presentations to business managers and directors (audiences from 5 to 300).Delivered a single days presentation in school to 9 year olds on behalf of Young Enterprise.

Wing twist project. Interface to CATIA CAD package. Wrote a suite of VB scripts to move all fixing points on aerofoil surfaces according to a geometric transfer algorithm so that the outer portion of the A380 wing could be manufactured to have a reduced twist thereby reducing drag without a penalty in lost lift. Used VB Script to manipulate CATIA objects through the CATIA API.

Designed and built a Project management dashboard to help with cost/resource control & planning for projects from 2 weeks to multi-£M budgets. Generated word, excel, project and powerpoint docs for planning, status and resource updates. 60+ local users with very positive feedback on usability and capability particularly for resource planning w/s created at sector and dept levels as well as single project. Developed export/import app that interrogated the SAP database both directly and through an automated web interface getting transactions for actual usage. Used VB, SQL, SAP.
