Working with MOD Estates throughout the Salisbury Plain area with 2000+ buildings to establish asset trends and lifecycle modelling and analysis. To achieve this, Simon is assisting in developing the survey and modelling software which is interrogated to provide insight into categories such as electrical, heating or water system so that the FM contractors can focus their resources and finances. Simon then produces the reporting structures using Power BI and the Power App Suite to provide meaningful feedback to the lifecycle and maintenance teams, where possible, in valuable and meaningful dashboards to allow them to access insight into future projects and spending.The same software and model are used to predict the life of high-value assets for upwards of 20 years throughout the MOD estate. Using data collected since 2017, which has been collected in various formats since the beginning of the project.This work is undertaken on various properties, including everything from SLA accommodation to POL points and military transport garages.The ultimate aim of this position is to use Big Data to help predict future lifecycle replacements of assets over the next 20 years to allow forecasting of work, projects and finances.

Simon worked on major projects, principally on two locations for the Crossrail project where he was identified as the data owner, working to collect asset data for 50,000 assets. Simon complied these in a bespoke software package he continued to develop and design it in such a way that the information could be accurately imported into the Asset Information Management System and in a manner that the client could utilise easily. Other projects included, Compliance reports and issue identification for planned preventative maintenance systems on government contracts as well as leading a team of surveyors completing asset condition surveys in a large regional hospital. Simon was responsible for the accurate collection and clear reporting of data to the client.

Simon was approached to work in the Management and Surveying Consultancy assisting and ensuring client compliance with all aspects of health and safety projects. This involved all aspects of the built environment particularly considering issues such as, fire, Legionella and electrical certification and making sure that assessment were up to date and suitable for the property and its occupants. Simon also participated in the development of a combined in-house Asset Data Collection System that managed asset information and asset condition surveys. Simon’s input into the development of this software enabled a unique and bespoke service to be offered to clients.

Simon was encouraged to move from his previous position to a role which required the management of Asbestos on Siemens Real Estate because of his skill and enthusiasm following previous training and experience within the field. With 94 aging sites most of which pre-dated 2000, Simon was required to make difficult decisions regarding potentially serious contamination by hazardous material, ensuring swift and accurate communication with clients and allowing them to make important decisions to protect their workforce. Simon was responsible for checking the certification after work was completed by specialist contractors. During the course of this post Simon also became the Legionella Appointed Responsible Person for the contract. This included at least two sites with water cooling towers which required significant monitoring and meticulous record keeping.

Simon managed a team of six engineers looking after the infrastructure of a busy and expanding manufacturing plant responsible for traffic solutions. An important part of this role included maintaining the server rooms and infrastructure relating to the Congestion Charge in London, ensuring that the system was running 24 hours a day. This included making special arrangements to ensure the system could be left operational during periodic inspection and testing. Simon dealt with a challenging contract where the client had high expectations concerning the delivery of the contract. During this contract Simon turned around a failing site with the poorest performance on the contract, to become the highest performing contract within 10 weeks and improved the site’s ability to achieve successful levels with the contract’s Key Performance Indicators.

Simon was responsible for the PPM and reactive maintenance on site with a team of 22. The site comprised old and new buildings of industrial, commercial and domestic usage. Highly customer focused, liaising daily with the customer and subcontractors on site. Simon regularly met with the client, DIO to ensure they continued to be happy with the service received and to resolve any problems or outstanding issues quickly and effectively. Working within the constraints of the contract both operationally and financially Simon ensured satisfactory delivery of the contract. Simon was also asked to take on the additional task of regional Subject Matter Expert for COSSH and Legionella which involved problem solving issues within any sites in the South West Prime Contract.

A supervisor responsible for managing a team of 8 engineers and craftsmen who run, repair and maintain the buildings and grounds at HQ Land Command for both reactive and planned maintenance. My work involves management of engineers and their daily work pattern as well as supervising the work of external contractors requested to complete additional work. Ensuring that the database holding information about all work is kept up to date with all returning data and remedial tasks from planned maintenance. I also have the responsibility to ensure that all standard PPM tasks and management of PPM plan is completed for both sites, to ensure compliance with statutory and mandatory. I receive and organize the inflow of work from Defence Estates and ensure work is completed to a satisfactory standard and on time. The role includes similar management of a remote site AOSB Leighton House, (Westbury), requiring an awareness of required actions at a distance.In addition I am responsible for the Health and Safety of all of the operatives and that of contractors. I regularly meet with the clients – Defence Estates - to ensure they continue to be happy with the service received and to resolve any problems or outstanding issues.Key Achievements:• Increasing the cooperation between the client and Debut by keeping the client informed of progress throughout the span of the job with regular updates.• Reduced on-going cost for client and labour costs for Debut through environmental and sustainable solutions.• Increased skills and knowledge around the management of personnel.

An Electrical Engineer, responsible for installation, maintenance and replacement of all types of electrical installation in commercial, office and residential environments. Work included 16th (Now 17th) Edition periodic inspections, completion of minor works certificates and remedial works. It was also my responsibility to collate test results from all the above installations and record them on the relevant certificates or documentation. Included in this role was regular inspection of emergency lighting services and recording of results, lighting protection testing and remedial works, to ensure that all regular PPMs are completed to ensure that clients remain legally compliant. Fault finding and repair of electrical faults on air conditioning systems were also requested on a regular basis.Key Achievements:• Improved understanding of electrical systems & testing by working in a range of different environments. • Developed new knowledge in the repair and maintenance of mechanical systems including AHU’s.• Instrumental in introducing software based electrical certification.

Commercial lighting engineer, in this post engineers were responsible for the upkeep, repair and replacement of light fittings and circuits in commercial buildings such as Marks and Spencer’s, Tesco’s and Debenhams. All lamps and spares were carried on vans provided by the company. Post also included repairs to lighting circuits, testing of standard and emergency lighting and fire alarms, problem solving and testing. Carrying out repairs where necessary allowing clients to keep lighting maintained and up to regulation specification. With everything from monthly maintenance visits to 2 hour emergency call out responses, engineers had to be versatile and think on their feet to come up with repair solutions.Key Achievements:• Developed the ability to work on my own initiating new work as required.• Achieved formal qualification as electrician by passing City & Guild Courses.• Instrumental in leading the conversion of inefficient D11 fittings to energy saving replacements.
