Kimura is the Heads of Finance, Grants and Operations. He marks concept notes; supervises a team of program associates in conducting due diligence, contracting, reviewing financial and technical reports, preparing analysis and providing feedback to grantees; oversees disbursements and conducts monitoring visits. Additionally, he prepares periodical and ad hoc client reports, manages contracts and payments to suppliers and sub-contractors, leads in portfolio meetings, assesses and reports program risks and is a designate Project Manager for 4 projects.

The US$300M challenge fund (www.aecfafrica.org) awards grants and interest-free loans to organizations with pro-poor innovative solutions in Agribusiness, Financial Inclusion, Renewable Energy and Adaptation to Climate Change Technology in rural Africa. Kimura deputized the Grants Manager and was responsible for over 100 projects in East and West Africa. He supervised a team of senior and junior grants associates in due diligence, contracting, reports review and analysis, and providing feedback. In addition, Kimura was a Project Manager to projects in diverse sectors and conducted monitoring visits, assessed project risks and prepared annual progress and impact reports. At the end of the KPMG fund management contract, he was responsible for handing over 256 projects, reports and documents.

Kimura was engaged from the initial stages of the program with the Fund Manager (PwC Kenya Ltd) and was involved in setting up offices and finding solutions to the teething problems. He conducted pre-grant assessments, program trainings, reviewed financial and technical reports, conducted periodical monitoring visits and recommended disbursements. He was promoted to a supervisor and he established other regional offices. Kimura liaised with a wide range of interested stakeholders in implementation of the program. He was later transferred to Nairobi where he was responsible for disbursements and preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports to the donor.

Kimura was responsible for daily operations of the finance and accounting department. He supervised and mentored a team of junior accounts and interns in all the accounting and finance functions. The functions included receipting, reconciliations, reporting, and internal and external audits as well as compliance. Kimura liaised with account managers to ensure the company had adequate funds to make daily transactions settlements with the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation as well as payments to clients and suppliers.
