About Simon Lea

Over the past 20 years working in the UK and Ireland, I have built experience in delivering all forms of housing for a range of public sector and private housing providers, from small infill schemes to large mixed-use Estate regeneration projects; the conversion of listed buildings to residential use; and the design of specialist older persons housing. I have also lectured on housing design and led the production of a number of best practice design guides on housing design, engagement, social value and Estate regeneration. I am currently a member of Hackney Council's Regeneration design advisory group, and the 'What House' Awards judging panel.

    As an architect and director of the practice I bring extensive experience in the housing and mixed use sectors. I have worked across large-scale estate regeneration projects in both the UK and Ireland, including the design and delivery of 260 new MMC homes across four sites as part of Dublin City Council’s Rapid Build housing programme. I have a strong understanding of policy and community consultation and am skilled at advising and engaging clients, stakeholders, and local communities throughout the design and development process. I am currently a member of the Hackney Council’s Regeneration Design Advisory Group, have contributed to specialist housing publications such as ‘Altered Estates: how to reconcile competing interests in estate regeneration’, (2016) and currently serve as an assessor for the Civic Trust Awards and co-judge the ‘What House’ Regeneration Award.
