Versatile double bassist, Simon is interested in free improvisation, jazz and composition. Graduated from the Schulich School of Music, McGill University and from Concordia University. He was chosen to represent his school at the Montreal Jazz Festival 2013 where he performed with his trio. During that year he received many bursary, nomination and prices, one of them being the Montreal Jazz Festival Jazz Studies Award. He took part in La vague d’Eryck Abecassis. He perfected his playing with Dres Gress, Ralph Alessi and Michael Formanek during the School for Improvisional Music at New York University. He went back during the summer of 2014 for the NYU Summer Jazz Improv Workshop wth an award. He also took part in other camp such as Orford Art Center, Barry Harris Workshop, Rémi Bolduc Workshop. He his, since 2009, freelance for the Orchestre du Septième Art of Sherbrooke in which he shared the stage with DJ Champion, André Watters and many more. It is possible to hear him in concert but also on some album, one of them being Saltwater of Goshtlight.
