During the last twenty years I have had the privilege of working in a wide variety of roles within the Royal Navy.Starting with five years in the Submarine Service, including service on two submarines (HMS/M Spartan and Splendid) and being on board for the first firings of Tomahawk cruise missiles by a British Submarine. Time on board two ships, HMS York (Type 42 Destroyer) and HMS Diamond (Type 45 Destroyer), the later I brought out of build setting up the Medical Department from scratch. Land Operation as well, Kosovo, Afghanistan and the Middle East. Whilst in Afghanistan I served with a variety of Units performing various roles, patrolling, heart and minds, and reconnaissance operations, plus training and Command and Control within Battle Group HQ. As part of my training role I taught advanced haemostatic techniques to British, American, Danish and Lithuanian personnel.More recently I have been working with South Central Ambulance Service, conducting joint training with both Military and NHS personnel, in particular with the Hazardous Area Response Team.Additionally I am a qualified as a IHCD Ambulance Technician and work with the NHS and a private ambulance firm.
