Switching philosophy and public policy for ethnographic fieldwork, I completed a joint phd program at the department for Development Policy (University of Antwerp) and Social and Cultural anthropology (KU Leuven) in 2023. Drawing from fieldwork experience in eastern DR Congo (15m), Dominican Republic (1,5m), Rio de Janeiro (3m), and Palestine (5w), I am mainly interested in economies 'from below', protracted conflicts, and oral histories that surround informal trade networks. My research interests draw from STS-studies, post-human studies, material culture, and anthropology of technology and medicine.Currently, as part of RESTOREID, restoring ecosystems to stop the threat of re-emerging infectious diseases, I focus on more-than-human ecologies at the nexus of Mpox, ebola and forest and landscape restoration. I have published on a wide range of topics in peer-reviewed journals in the domains of extractive economies (Extractive Industries & Society), humanities (Environmental Humanities), and literary and critical studies (Mosaic, Journal of Philosophy). Drawing from fieldwork in Rio de Janeiro's favelas, I wrote an ethnography on Pentecostal communities and narco culture (KU Leuven Press). I have published popular pieces in MO*, De Volkskrant, Streven, etc. on topics such as: happiness industries, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Brazilian politics and local histories.
