Developing Novel Formulations To Improve Therapeutic Efficacy Many therapeutic compounds demonstrate high potency but their clinical use is prohibited by factors such as toxicity, lack of bioavailability, and rapid excretion or degradation. My research involves formulating otherwise potent therapeutic compounds to improve their efficacy. My recent work focuses on encapsulating therapeutics with different stabilizers and excipients to increase drug circulation time, improve bioavailability, and reduce toxicity. Specific areas of my research interests include:* Improving the therapeutic circulation time for parenteral administration* Increasing the bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs for oral administration * Developing topical nanoparticle formulations* Controlling release with condition-specific nanoparticle degradation* Engineering therapeutic complexation to control biointeractions and releaseDeveloping Nanoparticle Probes for Single Enzyme Tracking* Cloning, expressing, and purifying enzymes for single molecule analyses* Using single molecule localization microscopy to investigate enzymatic behaviour during interfacial catalysis* Custom nanoparticle synthesis * Optimizing algorithms for single molecule trajectory analysis using MATLAB* Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
