Mental Health Liaison Nurse For Learning Disabilities
CurrentThis exciting new position has given me a lot of autonomy to develop this post covering North Wales. I am heavily involved with crisis prevention and support the majority acute in-patient admissions for people with learning disabilities and co-morbid mental health problems across 4 hospital sites. I ensure that reasonable adjustments to environment and clinical practice are implemented and developed a number of augmentative documents for this client group. A core element of this role is promoting partnerships between mental health and learning disability services to deliver and plan good quality, joined up services and support for this client group. I deliver mental health and learning disability training for CLDTs and the police and have written a Dual Diagnosis acute admission policy which is currently going through ratification. I also assess service user's mental health in general hospitals, provide information and advice for mental health services across North Wales and actively promote the use of evidence based assessments and treatments both in the community and in-patient settings.
