Working within McLaren Electronics Group (McLaren Applied Technologies) leading the development team responsible for all off-car software including ATLAS and SYSTEM MONITORTeam develops engine configuration and real time telemetry/data analysis software used by all teams in the FIA FORMULA 1 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP as part of a multi-million pound contract to provide electronics to all Formula 1 teams from the 2008 racing season onwards.Daily responsibilities include project development, project management - the scheduling and prioritisation of developer’s tasks, strict release and milestone planning, development planning, technical assistance, customer support, budgetary control, recruitment,motivating and training team. The role involves regular technical communication and meetings/presentations with high profile management personnel from major automotive and racing organisations, track-side engineers and internal development teams in order to resolve complex (and often critical) issues in high pressure circumstances.Software also used in American Le Mans, FIA World Rally Championship, McLaren Automotive (MP4-12C road car project) and other worldwide motorsport series.Electronics and software were winner of a Queens Award for Innovation in 2009.Nov 2003-Nov 2006: Senior software engineer in 'off car systems team' working on engine configuration and data analysis software for use by F1 motor sport teams. Nov 2003-Nov 2006: was also track side engineer for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 for two years. This involved significant European travel, forging close working relationships with key engineers and designers, detailed fault finding, problem solving specific software issues and full design/specification and implementation of new features.

A ten month contract to provide full design/development services on core 3D game engine for ‘Microsoft Train Simulator 2’ .

Project Team leader on the XBOX version of F1 simulator game ‘GP 4’ with responsibility for a team of programmers. Managed all key stages of the projects life cycle with responsibilities including core design and development, full management of development team, full project scheduling and milestone identification, liaising with UK and European management, quality assurance, marketing and Microsoft technical compliance regulation departments. PC software engineer on ‘GP 3’ and ‘GP 4’. Part of a small team of programmers at the Formula One motor racing simulation studio that completely designed and implemented the 3D graphics engine. GP4 was awarded numerous accolades from the gaming press for its technical content. Was also the winner of 2002 BAFTA interactive award for best sports game.
