I headed up a cross-functional project team and produced a concept and feasibility study for technology solutions using GSM and later WCDMA (UMTS). I was responsible for specifying system level architecture for UTRAN and CN infrastructure and the design of innovative solutions using IP technology (Ipv4, H232) to integrate e-commerce applications (SMPP) with cellular infrastructure. The role involved working with 3GPP and ETSI standards as well as forging close working ties with the UMTS and GSM R&D teams.I was later assigned Product Manager for In Building products, which included passive and active solution for providing RF coverage inside corporate and public buildings. I was a regular delegate at In building Conferences and Seminars, providing presentation material, networking with suppliers and customers and investigating new technology solutions. In the Swindon GSM headquarters I was responsible for specifying and building a customer validation and test center to demonstrate and trial new In Building products and services. The GSM In Building Solution was a successful product for which I was awarded a commendation in recognition of my achievements

In this role I was responsible for the design and development of mobile data products and GSM phase 2+ features, including 14.4K data, HSCSD, GPRS and Pico GSM. Assigned to represent Lucent at the ETSI standards committee for SMG4, I was involved in the writing of the GSM standards for circuit switched data products including HSCSD.
