In my job as Accounts manager I am responsible for a large portfolio of clients ranging from small sole traders through to medium sized companies and groups of companies. My role is not restricted to the preparation of the accounts of my clients but to any aspects of the clients business that they require me to become involved in. For the majority of my clients I also prepare and submit corporation tax returns to HMRC, within this is reviewing the clients business to ensure they are taking advantage of the different reliefs that HMRC offer such as Research and Development claims and Patent Box. For some clients we are also responsible for the clients bookkeeping and VAT returns and I review the work carried out by junior members of staff. Occasionally clients ask for additional work such as cash flow projections and help with obtaining finance or grants and I feel equally comfortable with this type of work as I do my day to day role.For the directors of the company's I deal with and the sole traders, I help with the preparation of their personal tax returns including advising on the best way to utilise their tax allowances and rates to minimise the tax that they pay. I am also responsible for several audits throughout the year in varying sectors and of varying sizes. This includes the responsibility of reviewing the work of junior members of staff, whilst also offering them guidance and the opportunity to learn different aspects of accountancy and audit. I have also recently obtained my audit qualification from the ACCA meaning that I am able to review and sign off audits.The amount of work involved in managing this range of clients means I am required to manage my time efficiently to ensure that all of the work is done to the deadlines.As part of my role I use various accounting computer software and can offer advice relating to Sage, Iris and Xero whilst also having very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel including data transfer from Sage.

I was responsible for the preparation of the accounts of a varying range and size of business. This included all aspects of accountancy including the calculation of corporation tax, preparation of personal tax returns and management accounts.I was also responsible for overseeing the development of junior members of staff from the day they started work through to them becoming qualified members of staff. This was especially important as the majority of junior members of staff had no experience of accounts when they joined the practice so I was required to instruct them in all aspects of accountancy including the responsibilities to the clients regarding confidentiality and professional sceptism.I was also an audit senior who was involved in the audit of companies of various sizes and in various sectors. The audits I managed ranged from small investment property companies to medium sized companies involved in the food production sector and construction.
