I am working on the consolidation of clinical systems within the trust following the merger of SFT and Yeovil District Hospital. Aligning the consolidation of systems to our Electronic Healthcare Record programme - Somerset togetEHR and improving clinical workflows during its procurement and implementation.

I have been involved with Northern Devon Healthcare Trust's Electronic Healthcare Record Programme since 2014 as member of the programme administration office. Since the formal establishment of the Smartcare programme within NDHT at the end of 2014/beginning of 2015 I have implemented a number of programme strategies linked to the management of risks, issues and other governance processes.As part of this role I have also implemented a cloud based collaboration system - Smartcare Hub, for use within the programme as a collaboration/document management tool.I am currently project managing the introduction of a cloud based domicillary care system for a new service partnership which the Trust is leading. This will involve managing the implementation of a tactical solution across 40 partners and the procurement of a long term future proof system; which will be used for the next 5+ years.

As a band 5 Biomedical Scientist I am expected to perform complex analytical and technical procedures. Examples of these procedures include:-determination of appropriate processing for clinical samples by combining requester supplied information, laboratory protocol and my own knowledge and experience.-analysis of microbiological cultures and identification of micro-organisms.-selection and performance of additional tests as required for confirmation or requested by consultant microbiologist.-communication of clinically significant results to consultants, requesters or other service users as appropriate and at an appropriate level.-entering clinical information, test results and patient demographics accurately onto the laboratory information system.-maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.Whilst working in a laboratory section I am responsible for ensuring that work is carried out safely and within laboratory turnaround times. This may involve advising and supervision of medical laboratory assistants or trainee biomedical scientists. Depending on staffing levels this may entail working in multiple laboratory sections. I also take part in the laboratory out of hours provision which entails lone working.The laboratory has an active system of quality management and I am expected to engage in this by performing audits and allowing my work to be audited. I am also expected to actively take part in continuing professional development to maintain my competency and knowledge levels.

I was employed as a clinical researcher at First DataBank Europe (FDBE). FDBE produce a database used by medical professionals to help in clinical decision making. My duties include:1. Research of new drug products and inputting of information into the database.2. Amending database records as identified by the department due to both, outside notification of a change or housekeeping of older products.3. Scanning and archiving of older material in accordance with internal quality management.4. Quality control of other clinical researcher’s work.5. Maintenance of both an accurate paper trail and electronic trail of my work in accordance with ISO requirements.

I have been working as a microbiological technologist part-time at The Microbiology Laboratories (TML) since 1995, during school and University holidays. After submitting my PhD thesis (March 2006), I have been working full-time. My duties include:1. Isolation and identification of bacteria and fungi from Veterinary samples.2. Detection of antibodies against a wide range of viruses by ELISA.3. Detection of Hanta/Hantaan and Mouse thymic virus by IFA.4. Detection of Toxiplasma gondii and Encephalitozoon cuniculi in rabbit serum samples by Carbon immunoassay.5. Analysis of environmental samples for total viable counts and food-poisoning organisms.6. Design and execution of small research projects.7. Archiving of company documents.Since starting full-time I have implemented and trained other members of staff in a new system for the isolation and identification of Campylobacter spp.
