I act as nursing professional lead for the role of information technology in safe and effective patient care.

I work to promote the needs of the transfusion service in the provision of electronic patient record systems. This started with the ongoing development and implementation of our bedside transfusion management system and has expanded to include the requesting and prescribing of blood product via our EPR system, Cerner Millenneum, which has included the development and implementation of clinical decision support.

Whilst still an active clinical Charge Nurse in Adult ICU, I took responsibility for the oversight and management of the locally based electronic clinical information system. This role included the responsibility for data protection, training and ongoing system support. Further, I was responsible for the replacement of the system, overseeing the procurement, installation, training of users in four separate intensive care areas.

Full time clinical Charge Nurse in charge of of a team of 20 staff, taking specific responsibility for the care and treatment of critically ill adults.
