I went to Askham Bryan college to study horticulture. I attended for 3 years and passed a first diploma in Horticulture as well as an NVQ level 2 as part of the NVQ I worked as part of the grounds team around the college, learning a wide range of horticultural skills. From askham Bryan I went to work for Baron landscapes a grounds maintenance contractor based in York. I maintained prestigious houses, Nestle rowntree factory, Hotels. I worked my way up to be a Team leader and was in charge of a team of 3. I worked here for 4 years and was sadly made redundant as it was the time of recession. I then went to be self employed maintaining private gardens, schools but this bacame a struggle financially. I then went on to Oulton Hall in Rothwell here I started as a Gardener maintaining the vast grounds and Golf course to getting the title of Head Gardener. I was in charge of maintaining the grounds as well as the paths around the golf course I was in charge of a 2 other staff members. I also implented a monthly/yearly maintenance program as well as been responsible for the gardening budget. I worked here for 6 years and left as I wanted a new challenge, I currently work at a private estate in Horsforth as a Head Gardener and am responsible for growing and developing the walled garden as well as maintaining the gardens to a high standard.
