My working life began as a studio junior in an advertising agency in London’s Soho Square. Days were spent tracing alphabets, unstiffening paint brushes, being sent to get (variously) lunch, cigarettes, dry cleaning and supplies from the art shop - which once included my having to ask for a bottle of tartan ink and a set of vanishing points.
