The premier Sports Medicine Centre for the Middle East. The centre contains an elite international multidisciplinary sports medicine team providing services for all national team athletes and attracts international athletes. Officially accredited as a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence.Key Responsibilities• Close working relationships with our own elite sports surgeons, physicians, physiotherapists, podiatrists, coaches and fitness staff.• Treatment of National/Olympic/professional and international athletes as well as private patients. Treatment is heavily based on exercise and functional biomechanics.• Coordination with coaches, fitness staff and athletes in the areas of injury management, injury prevention, planning expected outcomes and training/gym program alterations.• In charge of the end stage (>3 months post-op to discharge) functional ACL and sports specific group where full unrestricted running/sprinting/kicking is the focus. • The regular use of Isokinetic equipment (Biodex) to treat and assess lower limb (quadriceps/hamstrings particularly) and upper limb strength. • Close involvement with the sports of Football (soccer), Handball, Volleyball, Karate, Swimming, Athletics, Cycling, Diving, and Tennis. Key Achievements• First year annual appraisal score of 88%: 3rd highest in the department, warranting a promotion.• Implementation of the "buddy system" to help new employees settle into the early stages of life at ASPETAR.• Initiating talks with local swimming clubs informing them of our services.• Presentation to physiotherapy department, Qatar National Sports Medicine Physiotherapists on the topic of “groins" in relation to the current research. Presentation focused on teaching the practical and reliable measures of strength and flexibility researched by Antony Hogan.• 4 days exclusive treatment of Tim Cahill ((Everton Football Club and Australian National Soccer Team) in April 2011.
