Providing support to Corporate IT on Server 2000/2003, Exchange 2007, AD, file and print services and Blackberry Enterprise Server. Servers run on HP hardware or as VMs on VMware. Working in an inter-disciplinary group with developers and DBAs to maintain and enhance customer-facing websites and applications. Maintaining 200 Windows servers running IIS or SQL clusters and custom written applications as part of a larger network. Ensuring PCI compliance for those servers holding customer credit card data. Managing and co-coordinating software deploys and updates using ITL-based tools. Instigated Windows Updates for all customer-facing servers using WSUS and co-coordinated post-patch installation testing with other departments, DBAs and developers. Introduced a planned and co-coordinated software deploy/update methodology to ensure availability of personnel to support post-deployment testing. Gathered disparate information together to construct a server-level functional diagram of all customer-facing and production servers giving the organisation a clear view of the interactions and inter-dependabilities. Supported Dell rack mount and blade servers. Installed HP NAS server and supported existing SAN infrastructure. Installed and configured SCOM for 200+ servers monitoring SQL server, Exchange and OS. Planned and executed a domain consolidation project. This involved moving applications, VSS and HP's QC, from a SBS domain into the core domain thus easing user, application and SQL maintenance tasks.

Responsible for the day to day operations and management of a network for a mid-size marketing company with over 200 local users, 4 remote offices and 20 remote/home office workers. Desktops/laptops run on Windows XP Pro. Servers run on Server 2003 with AD. Email is provided by Exchange 2003 and remote access to email provided by OWA, VPN and Blackberry Enterprise Server. Centrally installed and configured antivirus and anti-spam for clients. Replaced legacy network switches with Cisco 4500 and implemented VLAN infrastructure. Supported and maintained LAN-to-LAN VPN and Cisco VPN client connections via VPN concentrator, firewalling through Cisco firewall with a redundant failover. Provided 2nd and 3rd level assistance to helpdeskOversaw data expansion to second floor with installation of Cisco 3750 as access switches. Replaced T1 lines with DS3 line and installed and configured Cisco 3500 router. Implemented redundant internet access using Fatpipe hardware devices. Setup devices as NS1 and NS2 DNS servers and set up and maintained all public IP addresses.Installed and configured Exchange 2003, SQL, IIS and Sharepoint in a clustered server environment with a SAN Array. Piloted a MOSS rollout, installing on VMWare to check for operation in a clustered environment. Carried out successful domain migration for 30 servers and 100 PCs to a Windows 2003 Active Directory Environment. Installed and configured Microsoft Operations Manager. Upgraded installation to SCOM.Assisted in design of new server room and planned and participated in move of network services to new space.Designed, configured and installed backup data centre to support client's business continuity plan.

Responsible for the supervision of a team of 6 contractors and the supervision and mentoring of 2 trainees carrying out 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support to over 3000 NT Workstation, Windows 9x and 3.11 PCs. These are connected via LANs and WANs using IPX/SPX and TCP/IP to 250+ Netware 3.2, 4.11 and NT4 Servers. IP addressing is a mixture of DHCP from NT and fixed.

Managing and supervising a team of 7 network engineers supporting the University's IT infrastructure with over 50 servers and 2000 nodes. The network consists of an ATM network with ATM to the desktop in one segment and a mixture of 10 Base-2 and 10 Base-5 desktop delivery to the rest of the site with an FDDI backbone. WAN connections are provided by microwave links to other sites. Communication protocols used are IPX/SPX and TCP/IP with fixed addressing.
