I have worked for 35 years plus in the hospitality industry, starting my career as a trainee manager in 1977 with Centre Hotels that later became Crest Hotels. became youngest Deputy/Acting G.M.in company at the time.I worked for a number of years with Stakis Hotels both in Cardiff, Bradford, Darlington and Perth (Scotland).In 1991 I opened the 135 room Copthorne hotel Cardiff as General Manager and put together the opening team and established company systems along with BS5750 for the hotel. After receiving the Hotel Manager of the year award and attending summer school at Cornell University in 1994, I was promoted to the 219 room Copthorne hotel Slough/Windsor in July1995.In the spring of 1999 I was invited to open the Vale Hotel,Spa and Golf (now resort) as GM.This prestigious 143 room family owned private build with sporting facilities soon became the venue of choice for Premier football teams, the W.R.U.the F.A.W.and the British Lions.I worked for a short time with MacDonald hotels in Cheshire and then returned to Wales to work at the 43 room Bryn Meadows Resort in Caerphilly for 2.5 years, rejoining the Copthorne hotel as G.M. in Cardiff from September 2011 to 2016.
