Simon Readhead KC is currently the Joint Head of Chambers at Deka Chambers. He has a wide ranging practice for both claimants and defendants in all aspects of medico-legal law.His work includes clinical liability, professional liability and indemnity claims including claims involving industrial accidents and occupational diseases, health and safety claims and product liability.Simon has a special interest and expertise in catastrophic injury claims including birth trauma, other neurological injuries particularly involving the head and spine and high value and complex quantum claims. Simon is recognised as a Tier / Band 1 King’s Counsel in the current editions of the leading legal directories in the UK. He is also listed in the current edition of The Best Lawyers in the UK and has been nominated for King's Counsel of the Year in the Clinical Negligence category of the 2024 Legal 500 Bar awards. Simon is a Master of the Bench of the Middle Temple and is the immediate Past President of the Medico-Legal Society in the UK. Simon is a former Junior of the Midland Circuit and was the founding author of piBlawg, an online clinical liability and personal injury blog. He was also involved in the development of piCalculator which is now the leading online encrypted damages calculation tool. Simon is regularly asked to speak at conferences and seminars both in the UK and abroad, most recently in Hong Kong. Simon is a trustee and member of the management committee of both the Permanent Exhibition of Judicial and Legal Costume in the Royal Courts of Justice and the Arts and Education Trust at the Rolls Building.
