Completed a 4 year apprenticeship in 1976 as a typographer at the Detroit Free Press. Achieved journeyman status. I became a work director, managing workflow, in the prepress department at the Detroit Media Partnership in 1992. Always hard working and anxious to know how to do everything. Went to Henry Ford and Schoolcraft community colleges and studied relevant subjects, personnel management, graphics, economics, technical mathematics. Became supervisor in prepress in 1995. Supervised workflow through the department specializing in camera, scanning, ink jet large format printing and color correction techniques. Became manager and then Sr. Prepress Production Manager in 2009. Assist with union negotiations, handle personnel issues, grievances, arbitration hearings. I have 23 years of union experience, 42 years of working in prepress / composing.
