For the last 29 years, or so, I have been a hawkish industry busy-body within the realm of Alternative Investments.As I get older, and I have the time and chance to broaden my areas of interest, I am starting to wonder whether there aren’t bigger badder battles to wage with the likes of Big Food and Big Pharma? Even within finance and macroeconomics, I feel a strong urge to rant about topics ranging from the measurement of externalities through to the delusions of quantitative easing. To be clear, however, I couldn’t be more proud of the Grown Ups who are running Albourne today and I will definitely not be commenting on Albourne; it’s service; it’s ratings or on any specific fund manager from the Alternatives Industry.I should also confess to a relatively new addiction to OKRE, a charity that has recently spun out of the Wellcome Trust. OKRE focuses on the interface between great research and the entertainment industry because perceptions play such an essential role in terms of shaping and evolving culture. I am open to public speaking engagements in return for donations to OKRE so long as they do not create any conflicts of interest.I have posted my favourite books and audiobooks from amongst those that I have come across recently. I would love to receive recommendations, share constructive rants and occasionally indulge in a call-to-arms.My mantra has always been: I do not fear failure, I fear not trying.
