  Liaison – My duties require me to liaise successfully with visiting scientists, overseas facilities, off-site services, outside manufacturing, workshops and technicians.Resource management – supervision of contract detail design staff, both off-site and on, workshop supervision, supervision of on-site technician effort.Project management – Risk assessments, method statements, Gant charts, specifications and change control management.CAD – fully conversant with Solid Edge and Team-centre.Vacuum – I have experience of designing vacuum chambers and systems, an understanding of vacuum requirements.Precision kinematics and motion – I have an understanding of kinematics, the need for precision when dealing with both LASER and particle beam alignment. (I designed pre-alignment tooling for quadrupole magnets for use on the ISIS synchrotron and the clutch motor drives that operate the precision collector system on the extract straight)Electro-mechanical – Most CLF experiments require fully motorized target assemblies (typically Thorlabs), operating within a vacuum.
