Selected Accomplishments:Key member in developing an integrated Environmental Management system at a corporate levelBrought an environmentally problematic site in a sensitive area up from lagging to leading through critical aspect identification, risk identification and control, prioritization, education/awareness, monitoring reporting and negotiation (internally and externally). The site has gone from being watched by the regulators to open communication and trust. All identified significant aspects have demonstrated a significant improvement over time as measured by 3rd party service providers.Instrumental in overseeing the phase 1 and 2 components of site contamination assessment of a site that was operational since 1914 (including mines, plant, water pipe lines, asbestos, PCB equipment, hydrocarbon storage and buried materials). A site of that age had a lot of unknown factors. Much investigation and digging through old archives and community discussion was required as part of the assessment. As the project champion I coordinated the contractors to devise a sampling plan using the gathered information. The site now has progressed to Phase 3 and 4 of the rehabilitation.Work with state and Federal regulators to bring about changes in law to allow new technologies and processes in alternative fuel production from waste. The process has been slow and measured with the need to demonstrate environmental compliance through both theory and monitoring. A significant milestone was passed recently with the Federal government promising to deliver draft guidelines to the state government in order to allow us to commence the license approval application.Worked on the rehabilitation of an underground colliery. Decommissioning has now taken place as well as landscaping and contouring. We are now in the final phase of weed management and planting. All plants and grasses have been sourced locally and complimentary to the ecology and geology of the area.
