Northpower operates and maintains the electricity and fibre networks in Northland and provide specialist contracting services across the country.This role sits on the fibre leadership team and is fully embedded within the fibre business being Northpower Fibre, a fully owned subsidiary (previously a joint venture with the government) with more than 23,000 fibre connections and $100 million of fibre network assets. It has grown from a start-up in 2011 to a well-established innovative fibre company in 10 years.My position is an extremely broad role comparing to a traditional finance business partner, instead, it feels like a 'mini' CFO role as it spans from day-to-day operations, financial and regulatory reporting to business planning, strategy development and executions, and board interactions.Key highlights:• Successful full end of end implementation of the new regulatory regime (input methodologies and information disclosures) from initial impact analysis & modelling and planning to establishment of new processes & models, audit and final disclosures.• Successful establishment of the initial RAB (regulatory asset base) and financial loss assets under the new complex regulatory regime effective from January 2022, involving analysis and reconciliation of 10-year worth of financial information which also successfully passed audit. • Finance lead and owner of automated fibre billing system, transitioned from manual spreadsheet billing requiring more than 0.5 FTE to a single day billing run.• Automated monthly board reporting, cutting reporting time by more than half with more time focused on analysis and providing actionable insights.• Resolved legacy complex financial issues that no predecessor could in the past 10 years• Fully uncovered the loss-making related party division and set up to make arms-length profit• Fully integrated business planning that drives unparalleled clarity, accountability, and better engagement with non-financial teams.

This and my prior roles at Northpower were instrumental to my fast-track career progression as they have exposed me to all aspects of the financial operations and all areas of the Group.These roles involved, in the financial accounting space, supporting the finance department and the financial controller in month-end reporting, statutory and tax reporting; in the management accounting space, supporting commercial finance manager, General Manager Electricity and Chief Executive Fibre in management analysis, monitoring and reporting, as well as budgeting and forecasting.Key highlights:• Finance lead and end to end implementation of JDE IFRS16 leasing system module for more than nine hundred leases at Northpower.• Solid and robust understanding of our large ERP system - JDE, in terms of its set-up, workflows, controls and mechanisms.• Good understanding of corporate finance department functionality and workflows.• Developed Power BI dashboards to monitor AP and AR KPIs.• Developed monthly reporting tools and budget/forecast templates for the Group.

My role is to support the financial controller and financial accountant in meeting the financial reporting and tax requirements for month and financial year-end. This role involves using JDE and OLAP cubes on a daily basis and is responsible for carrying out ad hoc projects/duties as required using Excel and Power BI to ensure the department is well positioned to meet financial reporting requirements and management reporting purposes.
