My main area of expertise is in undertaking underwater and environmental noise impact assessments for major onshore and offshore developments and I have worked for developers, operators and local authorities, including representation at several Public Inquiries and at Parliamentary review. I have a wealth of hands on experience working in the several sectors both on and offshore and have considerable experience in undertaking EIA, FEED studies, detailed design, operational troubleshooting and noise control investigations. I have expertise in undertaking assessments of noise impacts on humans and a combination of underwater and airborne noise assessments on wildlife such as marine mammals, fish and wildfowl, including assessing the impacts of offshore piling, seismic exploration activities. use of explosives and various other activities in the renewables, oil and gas and port industries. I have also worked as part of the team advising the UK government (Defra) on noise mapping and was heavily involved in a research project to develop a national method for strategic mapping of industrial noise. More recently, I undertook a research project for DECC on behalf of the Offshore Renewables Joint Industry Project to review and make recommendations for marine mammal mitigation for offshore wind farms.
