Responsible for monitoring and coordinating Council’s Natural Area restoration on-ground works program and budget. Tasks included updating the Council mapping of restoration project sites, review and implementation of Vegetation Management Plans, development of restoration and revegetation plans, preparing REF’s for scheduled works in riparian or Bushland areas, preparation of grant funding reports and applications, and liaison across internal divisions, contractors and customers to investigate and solve various environmental issues of concern. Direction and management of restoration contractors and works in Natural Area restoration sites, development and management of annual restoration budget, responding to customer enquiries and complaints, and liaising internally across Council divisions to maximise the efficiency and quality of work. A highlight of the position was securing a six year $240,000 restoration grant after a lengthy and detailed participatory design process with community BushCare volunteers.
National Green Jobs Corps Project Coordinator
This involved recruiting and providing support and assistance to 13 Auswide NGJC Team Leaders (TL’s) within southern NSW. I communicated with prospective host organisations and set up suitable NGJC projects with significant environmental outcomes. I developed, reviewed and assessed each team’s Cert II Conservation and Land Management (CALM) training material. I also delivered additional site supervisory, training and guidance for TL’s, resolved conflict and managed any complaints.
National Green Jobs Corps Team Leader/Trainer
This position involved project design, the recruitment of NGJC team members, liaison with project hosts and employment consultants while managing bushland restoration sites. I was also responsible for training NGJC participants in Cert II CALM, which included facilitating group learning, designing class delivery, and helping students overcome learning barriers.
