Support Saving our Species(SoS) teams in South East NSW to incorporate human centred approaches to their conservation work with internal and external partners. Encourage SoS teams to develop meaning relationships with important stakeholders like the Aboriginal community, ensuring those relationships are sustained beyond the lifetime of SoS. Design and develop feedback mechanisms alongside our SoS teams, to ensure stakeholders like landholders and landcare groups are kept up-to-date and motivated to continue their contributions alongside us.Problem solve the biggest challenges of human-wildlife interactions and conflicts, developing strategic approaches in awareness raising and behaviour change for flagship threatened species like flying foxes and beach nesting birds.Documenting the wins and lessons learned, building the capacity of our staff to communicate the science and share these stories with a broader audience.

South East Nsw

Established field monitoring network for spotted-tailed quolls in the Illawarra highlands. Facilitated the participation of 50 private holdings in coordinated fox control efforts focussed on key quoll habitats.Designed and delivered several engagement and communications products for various Saving our Species projects with specific audiences.

Wilsons Promontory National Park

During the peak summer period I was responsible for a range of duties but focused heavily on visitor management (camp and walking track patrols) and the development and delivery of marine education activities (walks, talks and rock-pool rambles).As Project Officer I designed & delivered a $100K campground improvement project including the formalisation of 20 sites, collaboration with the local Men's Shed to construct park furniture, design and install of mini-locker charging stations and a complete ablution block and wash-up station renovation.

Ahanta West, Remote West Coast Of Ghana

This was undertaken through AusAid’s Australian Youth Ambassador for Development (AYAD) program. The position was responsible for establishing and facilitating community based wetland management areas across 20 rural communities, surrounding a diverse range of coastal lagoons in Western Region, Ghana. Highlights of the project include the training and facilitation of community mapping teams for demarcation of CREMAs (Community Resource Management Areas), community installation of over 10,000 mangrove species, and the facilitation of community and government stakeholders in the development of a Wetland CREMA Management Plan for the Ahanta West District

Wollongong, Australia

Responsible for monitoring and coordinating Council’s Natural Area restoration on-ground works program and budget. Tasks included updating the Council mapping of restoration project sites, review and implementation of Vegetation Management Plans, development of restoration and revegetation plans, preparing REF’s for scheduled works in riparian or Bushland areas, preparation of grant funding reports and applications, and liaison across internal divisions, contractors and customers to investigate and solve various environmental issues of concern. Direction and management of restoration contractors and works in Natural Area restoration sites, development and management of annual restoration budget, responding to customer enquiries and complaints, and liaising internally across Council divisions to maximise the efficiency and quality of work. A highlight of the position was securing a six year $240,000 restoration grant after a lengthy and detailed participatory design process with community BushCare volunteers.

Throughout South Coast Nsw

This involved recruiting and providing support and assistance to 13 Auswide NGJC Team Leaders (TL’s) within southern NSW. I communicated with prospective host organisations and set up suitable NGJC projects with significant environmental outcomes. I developed, reviewed and assessed each team’s Cert II Conservation and Land Management (CALM) training material. I also delivered additional site supervisory, training and guidance for TL’s, resolved conflict and managed any complaints.

Wollongong Area, Australia

This position involved project design, the recruitment of NGJC team members, liaison with project hosts and employment consultants while managing bushland restoration sites. I was also responsible for training NGJC participants in Cert II CALM, which included facilitating group learning, designing class delivery, and helping students overcome learning barriers.
