Red Balloon of the Air is a charity registered special school for children with complex mental health conditions. My responsibilities for this role were to oversee the transition of students from Red Balloon Provision to their next placements, to manage mentors with transitioning students, and to provide expert advice to staff, students, and parents. As the manager of a brand new department, I developed analytical and statistical tools to monitor our student’s journeys. This information would, in turn, inform our evolving policies and practices as an organisation. As I became more familiar with the role I oversaw much of the data analytics relating to fundamental issues of concern to the Senior Leadership Team. Below are some of the projects I regard as my major achievements in the role:The creation, implementation, and reporting of engagement and wellbeing systems using Microsoft Excel.Statistical tracking of student emotional well-being and study engagement; used to inform and improve staff practice. Supervising the achievement of transition goals with students who had been diagnosed as SEN / SEMH students. 70 students placed during 2 years into Education, Apprenticeships, or Employment (Achieving my KPI of 0% NEET). Implementation and supervision of a post-student tracking system using excel and management information system “Progresso”.This role required excellent communication skills to coordinate bespoke care plans with nation-wide authorities and schools for students presenting SEN. As a role that often required remote working, it also demanded outstanding levels of organisation and flexibility. Each student’s journey was viewed as a project that needed to be examined and designed to fit his or her personal and educational needs.
