Simon's work is characterized by an integrative approach towards computational design, engineering, material performance, and digital manufacturing.He studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich and ETSAM Madrid and worked at several architectural practices, among them Foster and Partners in London, LAVA, and AR-MA in Sydney. His references include the Samsung Expo Pavilion in South Korea, the Optus Stadium in Perth, the Trifolium Pavilion in Sydney, and the design of the Blitz Club in Munich. Simon developed digital systems for BMW, OT4, and Modulor.Simon founded Vorhammer Computational Design in 2016 (www.vorhammer.net). His interest in digital aesthetics led Simon to co-found Sian Design (www.sian-design.com), a label for algorithmic jewelry, in 2018. Under the name beckh & vorhammer, Simon partnered with Prof. Matthias Beckh to engage in projects at the interface of structural analysis, computational planning, and architectural design. Since 2017 Simon has been developing Formfelder — algorithmically designed, CNC-milled surfaces (www.formfeld.net).Simon currently holds an adjunct professorship at FH Biberach. He teaches and taught parametric design and digital fabrication as a guest lecturer at a number of universities, including TU Munich, University of Sydney, and FH Munich. He lives and works in Munich.
