Having completed my first year in college in May 2011 I was offered the opportunity to gain work experience within the Echo Newspaper in Tallaght. Once there I was given every opportunity to improve, and I was offered the role of Sports Reporter in September 2011. Since then I have worked on events including Republic of Ireland matches, Airtricity League games, All Ireland Finals, and a host of other sporting occasions. I cover local Leinster Senior League, AUL, DDSL and SDFL football matches on a weekly basis, and I also report on a huge amount of other sports including GAA, Rugby, Hockey, Boxing, Athletics, and Basketball.Over the last three years I have worked as part of the news team within the Echo Newspaper during holiday periods and summer holidays, while maintaining my role within the sports department. This has allowed me to improve my news gathering and writing skills, and it has also allowed me to gain an understanding of the core daily workings within a busy newsroom.Since the beginning of 2015 I have been given the opportunity to work on special projects, including the production of promotional videos, creating partnerships with local schools, colleges and businesses, and the growth of the newspaper's social media accounts.
